KymiRing Hackathon, an international idea competition to find the most efficient event solutions to benefit KymiRing and Kymenlaakso region has been opened by South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk). KymiRing is an adventure centre with the track suitable for international motorsport events. KymiRing also offers a great setting for practice and training at the international level.
The purpose of the competition is to develop ideas and pilot the most promising ones during the winter. The competition is open to all, and the most active participation is expected from students. The Hackathon is marketed globally, which is believed to bring in high quality participants and refreshing ideas.
All competition entries and pilot results are taken in account when creating a marketing plan for KymiRing. The results of the event can also be made use of in the future through new events, publications and projects.
From theory to practice through piloting
The competition jury will stress the use of close future technological solutions while evaluating the submitted ideas. The winning solutions could be related to, for example, virtual reality, added reality, artificial intelligence or automation. The idea does not need to be a campaign-like marketing idea. Instead, participants are encouraged to create ideas including long lasting, sustainable solutions that could even be platforms to establish a new startup. Each idea sent will be read through and evaluated.
The last day to send the ideas is November 12th 2017. It is possible to participate individually or in a team and the number of submitted ideas is not limited. The most promising ideas will be chosen to be piloted. Each of the four winners will receive a funding of 1000€ to try out their idea potential. The pilots will be carried out between December and March.
The KymiRing Hackathon is organised as a part of ”Fuel for international event marketing” project. The project is managed by Xamk between the 1st of August 2017 and the 30th of June 2018. The project is funded by the Regional Council of Kymenlaakso and the city of Kouvola.
