The promoter of MotoGP, Dorna, confirmed today that MotoGP-class tests will be organized in Finland 19-20 of August this year. The decision is a big step forward for the final green light of Finland hosting its first MotoGP race in summer 2020.
The Project Director of KymiRing Timo Pohjola and the President of the Finnish Motorcycling Federation Tapio Nevala are at the moment having meetings with Dorna at the MotoGP season opener in Qatar. After the successful negotiations Dorna confirmed today that Finland will host MotoGP tests 19-20 of August this year.
- The meetings went very well and everyone is excited to come to Finland. What comes to the finishing the circuit, we are working according to the timetable and the track will get tarmac during this summer, comments Nevala.
After the tests Dorna will announce the timetable of the first Finnish MotoGP race.
- Of course having tests this year is a strong sign that we would be hosting the MotoGP races from next year onwards, Nevala says.
